Apollo 11 (July 16-24, 1969) was the historic American spaceflight that first landed humans on the Moon, achieving President Kennedy's national goal of completing a crewed lunar landing and return. Astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin landed the Lunar Module Eagle in the Sea of Tranquility on July 20, 1969, while Michael Collins orbited above in the Command Module Columbia.
